Alive in Christ

From the first day it happened, people doubted that Jesus rose from the dead.
After all, it’s not possible that someone deceased can live again. Yet this stubborn and unscientific truth has continued to live on.
Think of the testimony of the first disciples: though violently opposed and threatened with execution, they boldly preached Christ. They understood well that their own death hardly mattered if Jesus had already removed its sting.
Or think of how Paul wrote to the Philippians from his own Death Row, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” That is God’s steadfast promise: because Christ has arisen, his people will also rise.

When the day of our own death approaches, we might still be scared and hesitant. But Christ’s believers know that this last enemy was already vanquished on the third day, two millennia ago.
We know that when our body is placed in the grave, it’s not the end.
Our body might molder for three days, three years, three centuries—but in Christ, we’ll rise again and begin life everlasting with a body and spirit renewed and perfected.
Compared to such a glorious eternity, this life is just the passing of a breath, a morning mist, just a tantalizing prelude to a grand symphony. It means that as long we’re on this earth, we have a purpose that is crystal clear: today we’re alive to trust and worship Christ our Saviour.
May you continue to be transformed today by believing in Christ’s cross and empty tomb, so that one day you might rise to live forever with him!
