Just a Baby?

At Christmas we celebrate the birth of a baby named Jesus.
Which can actually seem like an insignificant event. To be sure, a new child’s arrival is an astonishing experience—few things compare with it.
But so what? A baby is born into this world every few seconds. It’s hardly a momentous occasion.

But Jesus wasn’t just another baby.
The angel had announced that this child of Mary would be someone great, even the king of an everlasting kingdom. He’d be like the rising sun, to give beautiful light to those sitting in darkness. All those who knew God’s Word were expecting someone special—a Saviour!
And so when Christ was born, there was such great joy.
The angel choir sang his praises in the heavens.
The shepherds dropped what they were doing to go see him.
Joseph and Mary adored the kindness of God in sending a Redeemer.
People came from afar to bring him tribute.
And for those who believe in him today, Jesus is still the reason for true celebration. He came from heaven to this earth, so that He could give up his life for sinners.
Worship him, and begin to share in the joy!

Thanks for this reminder. He was indeed a special Baby. Even Satan wanted to kill Him through the fear of king Herod.
